Lag Time is No Fun!

Well, the lag time between USTCC events is just killing this old boy! By the time our next US Touring Car Championship race rolls around September 26-27 at Sonoma, seven weeks will have passed and I can’t wait for that event!

In the mean time, a brief recap of what happened at Laguna Seca….

“Life’s Good Racing!” had a very, very successful race weekend at Laguna Seca July 31st, August 1st and 2nd. LGR had an outstanding weekend performing well on the track but for me the highlight of the weekend was having my 85 years young father “Jerry” guest as an honorary crew member! It was just a thrill having my father with me on the crew. Hanging out with LGR in the paddock is always a family affair. Justin Crickenberger and his wife Susan bring their absolutely adorable daughter Madison to the track with them for every event so at Laguna Seca we had all the age groups covered! My father Jerry at 85 and Madison at almost three!DSCN1030Left to right; Dave Pittenger, Jerry (The Chief) Pittenger, James Alaga and Andrew Pittenger
The race Saturday saw Beau Borders finish second in the #12 LGR BMW M3 and Justin Crickenberger finish a solid third in the #11 LGR BMW M3.
Sunday was even a better result with our Michael Whelden finishing first in USTCC TC class with Beau once again finishing second. Justin in the #11 finished fourth. In the USTCC GT class, LGR’s Dave brown drove the #99 (usually #96) Fifth Gen Camaro to a second place finish. As a result of all this success “Life’s Good Racing!” holds the top three positions in the USTCC TC championship with Beau Borders in first place followed by Justin Crickenberger/Karl Chicca in second and Michael Whelden/Mauricio Lastres in a close third place with three more race weekends to go.
Our next USTCC race weekend will be at Sonoma Raceway September 26th and 27th. We will be running all three cars in the TC class, Beau in the #12, Justin in the #11 and Michael will be driving the #10 Mitsubishi Lancer for one last time before Mauricio returns to drive the last to races of the season. Please try and make it out to Sonoma for what promises to be another exciting race weekend with “Life’s Good Racing!”.
